Growing Up in Swindon - we need your help!

06 Aug 2026
Museum & Art Swindon - Growing Up in Swindon - we need your help!

Museum and Art Swindon is planning an exciting new exhibition this autumn, all about Growing Up in Swindon! We've found lots of material to take you down memory lane and to look at how people played and celebrated in their childhoods here in Swindon and its Borough from the last 100 years - but now we need you!

We're looking for material about birthday parties and celebrations at the Oasis, so if you have photographs or memorabilia related to the Oasis that you might be willing to lend to the exhibition, we'd love to hear from you.

We're also looking for toys from the last 30 years, after the times of Big Yellow Teapot, Polly Pocket and Mighty Max, especially if it was played with in Swindon or bought from a Swindon area shop! And we're looking for your memories of your teenage years in the town and around from the 1980s to today, especially again if you had photographs or memorabilia related to those memories. We're looking for how you spent your leisure time, play time or hanging out time, not schools and not organised sports, for this exhibition, but we are interested in other clubs than sporting ones.

If you have any of those things and would be willing to lend them to the museum to help us tell the story of Growing Up in Swindon, we'd love to here from you. Please contact us at  MuseumArtSwindon@swindon.gov.uk
