Curator Talk & Tour: A Very British Art Revolution - Reinventing Life
Event Location: Museum & Art Swindon
Join Kirsty Hartsiotis, one of the curators of A Very British Art Revolution, for an informal curator tour of the exhibition, all about how artists reassessed their lives, their subject matter and their responses to the British landscape after the First World War.
The war had a profound effect on those who lived through it, whether as combatants, war artists, or civilians. In the interwar period many artists turned to the country- and seaside as not only places to create art, but also to live and work. At the same time, people's ordinary lives became the focus of study and artistic expression. As a Second World War approached, our day-to-day lives and the land itself became even more precious. We'll be exploring work by Paul Nash, John Piper, Katharine Pleydell-Bouverie, David Jones, Stanislawa de Karlowska and Julian Trevelyan, among others. Join Kirsty for a fascinating and in-depth look at the exhibition.
