This new display at Museum & Art Swindon, celebrates 125 years of the Swindon Photographic Society. On the 2nd of April 1898 The North Wilts Field and Camera Club met for the first time at the Technical School. The Name has since changed to the Swindon Photographic Society but the aim is the same – to assist and encourage the enjoyment of photography.
Whilst the name, equipment and technical skill changes, over time the basics remain the same; where to point the camera, when to press the shutter and how to convert that into a great photograph.
Along with weekly meetings and summer events, subject talks and special interest groups for landscape, street, portraiture and analogue photography, we hold regular competitions.
This display provides a snap shot of the work society members, are producing in the 125th year of Swindon Photographic Society.
